Thought this was interesting (and Lou, you'll appreciate it)

"Amy Crawford, the younger sister of San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford, may have a bit of a dilemma during the National League Wild Card gameWednesday night.

Normally, it’d be easy. Amy roots for her big brother’s team to win. But Amy dates Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole."

Why did Pittsburgh potch Cole on Sunday?

Weren't they already eliminated from the division by then?

Their rotation is pretty weak, and Volquez is awful. Don't care what he's done this season, the Giants have faced him a million times in the past and have hit well.

It was actually the same situation as Detroit/KC. Pitt was only 1 GB heading into the last day of the season.

That's right.

So your rotation sucks, and the best case is you tie the Cards for the division, then you play a 1-game playoff, then maybe you play in the WC game.

Pirates don't have the depth for any of that. Dumb.
