How he presented himself in front of the fans. That was his excuse for tossing Papelbon so he should be held to not only as high of a standard but even greater since he is the President of the umpires union.

I fail to see how his actions are equivalent to grabbing your junk in front of 30K people.

It is a matter of how you can and cannot conduct yourself in front of the fans. Papelbon was ran for his violation but West is supposed to be representing the higher authority on the field and should not be involved in actions that are against league rules. And again, he is the President of the umpires union and he is violating his own rules with arrogant disregard. A one game suspension is just a day off for a guy already taking down two paychecks.

The worst part of that Porter incident is the umpire went out to stop him from trying to switch pitchers and Porter, a rookie manager, talked him out of it. That was the blind leading the blind.

Speaking of Papelbum, it harkens back to Derek Lowe doing the DX chop after K'ing the last A'ths batter to clinch the 2003 ALDS for the Red Sux.
