Next post-season appearance????

Was this topic made after a bad loss, in which Scioscia did something like keep a pitcher in for one inning too long, or something like that?

 

Extra innings game in Cleveland. We had already switched to "closer by committee" after several Frieri-related mishaps. In this game Smith blew a save (IIRC one run lead) and tied the game. A few innings later it was still tied and Mike Morin was warmed up to try to maintain the tie, but then we scored some runs to go ahead during the top half of the inning. Now that it was a save situation again, Sosh didn't trust Frieri so he brought Bedrosian in. Bedrosian walked the bases loaded. Rather than bring in Morin, who was warmed up and had a history of getting out of bases loaded jams, he brought Frieri (who he didnt' trust to start the inning) to allow a walk off grand slam to Nick Swisher.

 

For the whole year I maintained that if we ended up losing the division by one game that I would lay the blame on this game in particular.

Great, now the Halos are going to go on a 17 game losing streak to end the season and miss the playoffs.

We only have 16 games left. Us losing 16 straight alone isn't enough to eliminate us though. One of the following would have to happen simultanteously: Oakland would have to go better than 6-7 in games not against us or Seattle would have to go better than 3-6 in games not against us.
