Good Times in Ukraine and Russia

Trump would have given the aid to Russia and praised Putin in the process, so Biden’s actions don’t really bother me. Further, this support is the product of bipartisan cooperation, so even the asshat Republicans think it’s a good idea.

The only time I remember something like that happening is when Obama sent a plane load of cash to Iran. It’s funny how you project your bullshit though.

It is funny how the whole Trump /Russia thing has been exposed as clinton funded bs yet Trump is somehow a KGB supporter. Obama mocked the idea of a Russian threat and was.l caught on a hot mic offering Putin a hand job after the election. Even now Biden has no end game in mind. He’s yet to define the objective. He’s simply throwing money at  a problem in hopes it provides him a political scapegoat for his failures. The sad thing is the next President will have to clean this shit up with troops or surrender territory to Russia. No amount of aid and sanctions will force a withdrawal

Russia has likely lost one-third of its combat forces in Ukraine, UK says

Russia has likely lost one-third of its ground combat forces in Ukraine and the forces who remain are depleted and have been unable to make any territorial progress in recent weeks, British intelligence officials said early Sunday.

Russia "has now likely suffered losses of one-third of the ground combat force it committed in February," the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense said in an update.

"Russia’s Donbas offensive has lost momentum and fallen significantly behind schedule," the report continued. "Despite small-scale initial advances, Russia has failed to achieve substantial territorial gains over the past month whilst sustaining consistently high levels of attrition."

The UK government also said these losses will "almost certainly" be worsened as tactical and support equipment continues to run out.

"These delays will almost certainly be exacerbated by the loss of critical enablers such as bridging equipment and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance drones," the UK government said. "Russian bridging equipment has been in short supply throughout the conflict, slowing and restricting offensive maneuvers."

The report added: "Russian forces are increasingly constrained by … low morale and reduced combat effectiveness."

I am amused at the media consensus that Putin is basically the only bad guy involved in this conflict.  That’s pretty convenient.

Almost like a super lazy screen writer that creates one villain and has him as the only one in the movie wearing a black hat.

Ukraine has been one of the most corrupt governments on earth for a long time.  They are not suddenly saints for the sake of easy story telling.

I feel very sorry for the innocent people in Ukraine both if Russia prevails AND also if they end up with the same old corrupt government they started with.

There always has to be one bad guy. It's easier for us plebs to understand. And it's been that way for a long time.

See: Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. Hitler vs. Stalin, etc...

On May 11, the Russian command reportedly sent about 550 troops of the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 41st Combined Arms Army to cross the Donets River at Bilohorivka, in the eastern Luhansk region, in a bid to encircle Ukrainian forces near Rubizhne.

Satellite images reveal that Ukrainian artillery destroyed several Russian pontoon bridges and laid waste to a tight concentration of Russian troops and equipment around the river.

There are ultra right wing extremists all over Europe.  Particularly Eastern Europe.  The difference is Ukraine didn’t invade Russia.  So forgive those of us who argue they have the moral superiority in this case.

I don’t think anybody disputes who is at fault in terms of who invaded.  Putin is a fucking kook.

I am only saying it would be a little healthier for people to not automatically make everyone related to Ukraine a bunch of saints.  There is a laundry list of super dirty corrupt motherfuckers, and there is a pretty sizable presence of full blown (admitted) Nazis among the Ukrainian people.

No that doesn’t mean I am comfortable with them being invaded. Of course not.  I am just not going to be among those that talk about this situation as if Ukraine is like Japan.

It's easy when you're big in Japan

Putting aside the fact that Japan is the land of very disturbing porn that can be bought legally and that alone disqualifies it for the country we should use as a positive example, I find it ironic that people are being criticized for supporting Ukraine because Ukraine has the same type of right wing nuts that we have.  That most places have frankly.

And that argument, that you can’t support Ukraine because they have right wing nationalists is only being posited because it’s (a) the ramblings of our resident AW member who wants nothing more than for us to think he’s brilliant for his eye rolling contrarian views and (b) it’s the Fox News official party line on Ukraine.

I know nobody who bought a Ukraine flag to support what is a corrupt regime.  I know plenty of fucks who bought a Trump flag who support a corrupt regime. You don't like someone getting a Ukraine flag, take your loser Trump flag down.

I plan on flying my Clinton Gore Stars and Bars flag at my new place.
