Much better game. Glad Getzlaf finally got his head out of his ass. He and Lindholm were by far the best players on the ice for us tonight.

Lindholm is the man.  Etem has been great in his two games back too.

 

Getz looked good, so did Perry.  Noticed Penner loafing around out there again.  He has been good this year, don't get me wrong, but I can see why BB gets frustrated.  You can see him just give up on plays.

I mentioned this in the Olympic hockey thread but didn't get any feed back.  Anyone watch any of Sweden's games?  I have been looking for Silfverberg to pick up his production during the olympic break but according to the boxscore on espn he hasnt even had a shot on goal over the last 2 games.  Is he even playing?

Yahoo shows Jakob played 10 minutes (14 shifts) in the game today. Just hasn't been very productive.

Some talk here in NY about a Rangers-Ducks trade.

 

Dan Girardi for Sami Vatanen.

 

Any thoughts? I don't know much about Sami, but I can tell you Girardi is a great, stay at home defenseman. Very dependable, and can play on both special teams. He is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and the Rangers are squeezed for cap space.

Sami is awesome, I would be sad to see him go.  Sami is more of an offensive minded D man, has a strong shot and skates really well.  He has played really well when up with the Ducks.  They are so deep that he has been sent down a couple times.  I think the emergence of Lindholm and Fistric has made him expendable.  Hate losing D man depth though.

I hate it. Sami is club controlled and young. Girardi is an UFA at the end of the year. Saying that he's an almost perfect fit for the Ducks, but I just don't like giving up young talent for pending UFAs.

Girardi is the right guy for us, but not for Sami. He is too valuable and costs way less. I would do something like Sbisa, DSP/Rakell in an instant though.

They suggested MacDonald on the Islanders for a second round and a mid-level prospect.  Not sure I like the -16 +/- though.

Looks like Girardi is getting locked up by the Rags for 6 years at 5.5.  Great deal.  Also means Vats is most likely staying with the Ducks.

Im glad.  I would have been pissed if they traded Vat for a rental.  If we trade him for anyone I hope its Christian Ehrhoff.  Hope we didnt make his no trade list.  Yea he has 7 years left on his deal but its only 4mil per.  And he is still a really good Dman.

Not a ton.  He's a great character guy that will put his body on the line for the team, but the Ducks need a top line forward or a top 4 Dman.  Neither really seem readily available at the moment (yes, I know Vanek would be nice, but from what I've read the NYI are asking for the moon).  The Ducks may stand pat, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
