Did he reiterate that they aren’t looking to add at the catching position? Or did he change his stance?

Just wondering if they’re going with Thaiss as the backup or if they’re leaving the door open to add a veteran backup?

He said they think Thaiss will be OK as the backup, but of course they’re always “open” to whatever presents itself.

lol, it almost sounds like they arent going to do much of anything at all.

i'm preparing myself for a bunch of juan lagares and wade duffy level acquisitions.

i don't think there's a free agent in the higher end who has any interest in coming to anaheim right now.

That’s like if you have no money to spend and are looking at milb deals/waiver claims.

With $70M to spend, even if they don’t spend that much, I’d like to think they’ll do more than that.

ideally, they'll be able to sign one or two impact players with that much money.

realistically, i just can't see any impact player being interested in playing for a team that looks like a dumpster fire right now.

If you overpay, you’ll likely get the player— except at the very, very top of the market (Ohtani, Yamamoto).

So the Angels could overpay one impact guy like Snell or Bellinger.

Or they could give above market deals to a few mid-tier players and get them to sign.

Perry needs to find another Urshela deal.
