Ward had a 1.047 OPS in July when he got beaned in the face. I would say it's just one of those years, but you would have to have at least one good season out of the last 8 to be able to say that.

Again, that has no bearing on whether they call him up.  My point was simply that they wouldn't have to add any money to the payroll if they DID call him up--and since penny-pinching certainly seems to be a primary goal as the season comes to a close, I think it's at least possible that they'd call him (or Walsh, as someone else mentioned) up.
