There's technically no reason to.  The only reason you can go on the 7-day IL is for concussion-related reasons--so the fact that he's on it tells us what his issue is.

At all times they said they would continue to evaluate him, just in case. And they also prevented him from talking to the media on Sunday and Monday, which indicates that this was something they were concerned about.

MLB "advises" teams not to have players undergoing concussion treatment talk to the media. It is partly because of the TV lights and partly because players may not be as good as evaluating their own condition with a concussion as they are with another injury.

Cabbage made a bad throw on a tough play.....O'Hoppe just went brain dead....he created a tougher situation for Cabbage than it needed be...

This is just dumb AO. O’Hoppe made the poor decision on that play. Then Cabbage instinctually threw to 3rd that for some reason Silseth was running straight towards. If he was running to back up he’d be taking a different route.

No disagreement on O’Hoppe throwing  to the wrong base 

You’re saying there was no way for Cabbage to take a split second to see that no one would be hit by the throw?

Honestly, I don't think any player would look to see if their throw was going to hit someone.

Just thankful that Silseth didn’t get more seriously hurt.   Hopeful he returns to normal before the end of the season, that the concussion is minor enough

Well, yeah, if he gets claimed, he's not gonna pitch for the Angels on Sunday. And my guess is that they'll just go to a 5-man rotation for the rest of the year, with potentially a spot start here and there from a 6th guy if someone needs a break. 

Anderson, Canning, Sandoval, Detmers, and Silseth (assuming he's ok soon) would be the main five, with some combo of Barria, Rosenberg, and maybe even Victor Maderos if they need to slot someone in. Something like that.

Not that it really matters any more...

With Ohtani out, they don’t need to use a 6-man rotation.

If Anderson goes Sunday and Silseth slots back in during the Baltimore series, they’re fine.
