Houck is rated as having a 18.5 Value at BTV, whereas Rengifo is at 0.5.

Now I've said that this is a bit ridiculous seeing as he has three arbitration years and he did improve somewhat last season. A good season and his value would likely be similar. But as of right now, I don't think this is enough. I've said in other threads if they re-examined him, his value would spike to 11-12 on their value chart. But that still wouldn't be enough.

It has been re-evaluated and it's still not enough. Houck is valued at 22.1 Surplus now and Rengifo is 13.7.

Only because Houck has 4 seasons of control, while Rengifo has 2 seasons of control.

Rengifo is blossoming into a solid player the past 2 seasons, and even taking some walks in 2023.

With the new coaching in place, and with his strong arm, I can see Rengifo becoming a solid 3B.

Meanwhile, Houck regressed in 2023, 5.01 ERA and regressed in Ks/BBs ratio  the past 2 seasons.

Houck’s numbers would probably improve outside of Fenway, also their infield defense was lousy for most of the season, until Trevor Story returned to SS.
