He's a fine catcher all around but Scioscia is just playing him way too much. The guy is on pace to play over 140 games, which is insane for a catcher.  I'm not exactly sure what Carlos Perez did to be entrenched so far into Scioscia's doghouse. He's a guy that should be getting a game in every now and then

Apparently all the calls for Richards to just get the Tommy John surgery was for nothing. His elbow seems fine.

Agree with you there.  Also maybe he will improve offensively with more rest.

IfScioscia thinks Graterol and Perez are so bad  and never start them, then we need to get a decent backup catcher next year.

It wasn't the elbow this season. It was the bicep nerve.
