That would be a pretty big step, considering the adjustment pitchers would have to make.

 

It definitely should be worked on though. Even a very light padding inside the hat would work better than nothing.

Probably something lightweight akin to a bicycle helmet would be good -- maid out of crushable foam around the perimiter of the head with lots of vent holes might be a reasonable way to go. Not as much protection as a hard batting helmet but not as obtrusive either.

Jesus... Hope he's ok. Seemed to talking to the paramedics as they were taking him away, which is good.
