All managers make mistakes. That mistake doesn't negate his work 162 games

Never said others don't. Never said it negates his good qualities. However it was not a mistake. It was a calculated strategy that he stubbornly continues to implement.

Exactly. While it was a mistake, he didn't believe that it was a mistake. He actually believed that bunting Calhoun on a 3-1 count was a good idea. And guess what? That "strategy" would've essentially taken the bat out of Trout's hands to boot since first base would've been open.

A good/smart manager doesn't do that.

It was not the proper call. Scioscia bunts too often. As a whole Sosh is a great manager but he has his deficiencies.

In 162 games the Angels sacrifice bunted 29 times. That's it, just 29 times over the entire season with John McDonald leading the group with 5.

Two Cleveland Indians lead the American league in sacrifices, Jose Ramirez had 13 and Mike Aviles had 11, between them they had five less than the entire Angels squad. In total 50 bunts from Terry Francona's squad. Remember when so many people wanted Francona over Scioscia? Good times.

Baltimore had 37 bunts, what the hell is wrong with Showalter!

The Royals had 33 bunts and that is obviously why Yost is ruining that team.

The Yankees had 32 bunts and who knows, if they just had only 29 like the Angels they may have made the playoffs.

The A's had 27 bunts. Maybe two more and they win the wildcard play in game. Naw... impossible.

The Mariners had 37 bunts and we all saw what happened to them. Losers.

The Rays were in fourth place in their division but lead it in bunts with 42. Maddon, super genious.

The Rangers were the AL West leader in bunts with 42 and of course were the bottom of the standings. Maddon and Washington, two peas in a pod.

Toronto had 37 bunts and has ended up watching the playoffs for the last couple decades at home.

It is obvious to everyone that Scioscia bunts way too much.

With the way Trout was swinging and missing this playoffs, taking the bat out of his hands was the smart move.

The logic you are proposing is laughable.

Wow, what a surprise the usual idiots still hate Scioscia. So the players deserve the credit Scioscia deserves the blame, Scioscia bunts too much, however the facts showed he bunted less than other managers. Did I sum it up? I'm curious why Calhoun gets NONE of the blame for not getting the bunt down. Haters gonna hate. I could have predicted this thread and it's players before the second post.

Here's where your logic fails...

Not all bunts are alike. Some bunts actually make sense. Not all bunts are bad.

Also, you are not even taking rosters into account (talent level of hitters). Or in-game situations and scenarios.

You mean how he pointed out that MacDonald had 5 out of the 29 total sac bunts?

Would you prefer delusional? Scioscia tried to sacrifice bunt, so he is a bad manager. Such a brilliant opinion and a fascinating conversation. Continue to tell us how bad he is, we will continue to tell you how wrong you are.

You fly off the handle quite often. Have you read my posts over the past two pages?

Yes, you think Scioscia sucks. You think he bunts too much, even though the facts show he doesn't really bunt more than most other teams. He even bunts less than a team with decidedly more power in Baltimore. I fly off the handle because of the nonsense guys like you and Angels spew on this board. Also you are doing it in a thread congratulating Scioscia for an award he received from his peers. Go ahead and discredit it, as long as you don't mind looking like a fool.
