WBC Games / News - 3/7

Talked with Chuck about this and came up with this idea...Now that we are getting into the "meat" of the WBC schedule a daily thread will be created that will list the games scheduled for the day along with any pertinent WBC news. The thread will serve as a game day thread for each game so the board isn’t cluttered with multiple WBC threads (not that it has been a problem thus far). Since the old MLB Forum (on the old AW.com) was eliminated this is just a way to streamline all the baseball information that does not necessarily pertain to Angels baseball.

 

Games:

 

Pool D (First Round) – Game 1

Final

Italy : 6

Mexico : 5

*Anthony Rizzo doubled in the top of the 9th, Stefano Desimoni and Chris Denorfia score which gave Italy a 6-5 lead. Jason Grilli pitched a scoreless 9th for the save.

 

Pool C (First Round) – Game 1

Final

Venezuela: 3

Dominican Republic: 9

*Jose Reyes went 4-for-5 w/ 2 runs and Robinson Cano went 3-for-5 w/ 3 RBI's to lead the Dominican Republic to a convincing victory over Venezuela.

 

Pool 1 (Second Round) – Game 2

Final

Netherlands: 6

Cuba: 2

* Netherlands 2B Jonathan Schoop went 3-for-6 with a HR and 4 RBI's to lead the Neatherlands to another upset victory in the WBC tournament
