Rule 5 Draft

I am not the most informed on prospects but I do know that most teams that win have guys that come from out of no where to make solid contributions maybe not be the team leader but do their job better then most thought they could. Do any of you see a gem or dimond maybe that could be picked up in the rule 5 draft ? Do you see a player we may loose that you feel is going to hurt down the line ? Lets get your thoughts.

Matt Sauer is a guy I wouldn’t mind getting for the pen. If he sticks they can try stretching him back out next season. Would fit in nicely with our arms.

The Mets left the 2 Angels acquired at the trading deadline unprotected Coleman Crow who had TJ surgery so he can be moved to the 60 day DL and Jeremiah Jackson who has tools and can be utility role. 

Also I would consider Mets RHP SP Joander Suarez also left unprotected.

• RHP Joander Suarez – The 23-year-old had an incredible run to finish out his season with 24 scoreless innings between High-A Brooklyn and Double-A Binghamton, including a 7-inning no-hitter that followed a 6-inning no-hit start.

I know it’s not the plan but drafting a couple R5 guys would fit real nice in my ‘2024 transition’ year. Perry’s good at finding quick-to-bigs guys, so I have some built-in trust that he could add a viable piece or two, and it’d go a long way to lessening the prospects we lost at deadline.
