Legares .615

Iglesias .686

Eaton .625

Mayfield .585

In case we are hoping for some offense off the bench:

Suzuki. .575

Basically only Fletcher,  Stassi. Ohtani, Gosselin and Upton  are the only ones on the 25 man roster with OPS over 700.

Only Stassi and Ohtani over 800.

Rangers lineup was even worse.

But they did the little things and played stupid good defense.

I was explaining why our offense is struggling.  Not why Texas beat us.  I like what Texas is doing.  I wish we had Thaiss in the lineup.

It's really time to consider if Mayfield and Eatons improved defense is worth their poor offense.  Neither will be with the team future plans.

We also lost Walsh who was hot before AS break and Ohtani has come down to earth.

Fact is a team can lose a player like Trout and Rendon and their back ups can overcome it in the short term.  However in the long run losing those two from our offense is devastating.

That's why I gave up hope winning the WC once i heard Trout return was delayed during the AS break.

I agree.  Also, Trout alone would make a huge difference, add in Rendon and Walsh….  But it is what it is so just let the young guys play every day.

Wouldn't it be funny if we're 10 games out of the wild card by the time we finally have an off day next week.

Texas is no pushover given our vanishing offense, and then we have the Dodgers this weekend who are clicking on all cylinders and have Scherzer.

Shut down Trout, Rendon, and Walsh for the year. Next Spring should be enough time for their boo-boos to fully heal. Marsh and Adell should play every day. They need the experience. Go with a rotation of Ohtani (if he's ready), Sandoval, Suarez, Barria, Rodriquez, and one or two others. NOT Bundy. Figure out a way to cut Upton loose.

Reevaluate this team from top to bottom in the offseason and replace most of the bullpen. Sign one good starter. DFA Suzuki and get a backup catcher. Get some better coaches.

2022 lineup: Fletcher 2B, Ohtani DH, Trout LF, Rendon 3B, Walsh 1B, Stassi C, Marsh CF, Adell RF, Iglesias SS.

Arte's philosophy is almost like basketball. Get a few all star, big name players that eat up most of the salary. And fill the rest of the roster with cheaper, more questionable talent. If they are up and coming young prospects you can build and sustain a decent to very good team over time. But if they are fringe or journeymen players you never have enough decent depth to get through a season. Especially with long term injuries. 

You saw what the Lakers were like without James and Davis. Obviously  baseball has a much larger roster, and the dynamics are different, but it is a rough analogy. Without all star pedigree players like Trout, Rendon, Upton, and now Walsh regularly in the lineup is it a surprise they are so challenged offensively? The terrible failures now with men in scoring position illustrates the difference between having bona fide major leaguers throughout the lineup and one filled with below replacement level players. 

And keep in mind that Ohtani is currently the bargain of the century. Who the hell knows what will happen to this team if he leaves or his salary throws the entire budget into the stratosphere. The window of he in his prime and a still relatively prime Trout may be small. And with Trout basically irrelevant this season we are missing perhaps one of the greatest one - two punches in history when they could have made a big difference together for the team in the standings.

This injury to Trout is bothering me. I am tempted to wonder if he will have more of these seemingly minor muscle strains etc that turn into months-long slow recoveries.

He's getting older so yes. 

Moving him out of CF will probably give him an extra year, at least.

You've been banging this drum and you have to know that it's not going to work that way.  For one, Arte wants butts in the seats and going full "evaluate the youth" goes against that.  Two, if they are ready, they'll want to be on the field.  Lastly, Walsh's injury is relatively minor and shouldn't even be discussed with the first two.

The history of this team argues that few "relatively minor" injuries are simply just that.

But yeah, he'll probably be back at some point. Trout and Rendon, though...doubting they'll see much playing time this year, if any.

We're not winning the 2nd wild card. In fact, we easily could finish 15 games out of it.
