How can Mike Trout top Mike Trout?

A couple years ago I thought we'd seen the best of Trout in 2012-13, as he had clearly declined in 2014 and while he improved in 2015, wasn't quite back up to his earlier level. But 2016 saw further improvement, and a hitting line very similar to 2012-13. I suspect he can make incremental improvements and have one or two seasons in which he surpasses even those numbers, at least with the bat.

Didn't love 2014 Trout but still loved 2015 Trout as a player. I guess it's because he got on base at a great clip, over 40% of the time. Big fan of OBP.  But love 2013 Trout the most of all his first five full seasons up to date. If he had gotten one more hit that year though, he would have batted over .300 at .301. So I guess, that near miss at .300 still lingers in my head. And somewhat the stolen base numbers were low by Trout's standards.

he's truly a remarkable player -- and nothing seems to phase the guy,

the stats he has accumulated during his still relatively short career places him among the best to every play this game.

I still think if he would have gotten that 50th stolen base that second year it would have been real tough to deny him the MVP award.
