Surgery for Bangladesh's 'Tree Man' to remove warts

A Bangladeshi father dubbed "Tree Man" for massive bark-like warts on his hands and feet will finally have surgery to remove the growths that first began appearing 10 years ago, a hospital said Sunday.

Abul Bajandar, from the southern district of Khulna, was undergoing preparations for the surgery to cut out the growths weighing at least five kilogrammes (11 pounds) that have smothered his hands and feet.

"Initially, I thought that they're harmless," the 26-year-old told AFP at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

"But slowly I lost all my ability to work. There are now dozens of two to three inch roots in both my hands. And there are some small ones in my legs," said Bajandar who was forced to quit working as a bicycle puller.

A team of doctors has been formed to perform the operation at DMCH, Bangladesh's largest state-run hospital, which has decided to waive costs of the treatment.

“It took them nearly four minutes to turn it off,” a grieving friend told the Telegraph. “People couldn’t believe what they were seeing.”

Oh for cripes sake, really? These morons couldn't figure out how to stop a sex act in progress? Must have been Catholics.

May also have been conservative republicans from the House.

i always thought her comedy was super boring and un-original.

but i guess amy schemer has been stealing jokes for ages.

plenty of examples. even worse than dane cook or carlos mencia.

She isn't funny at all. Even her delivery of the ripped-off jokes fall flat. Here's hoping she disappears quickly.

"Robot-obsessed Japan" is how Phys.org describes a country bent on automation, and its latest agricultural efforts seem to back that claim up. The world's first robot-run farm will be up and running by mid-2017, Kyoto-based Spread has announced, and it plans to churn out 30,000 heads of lettuce a day to start, boosting that to 500,000 within five years.

The lettuce, which will be grown without pesticides, will also boast more beta carotene than lettuce grown on traditional farms, the company says, and the automated process will result in significant savings: energy expenses would be cut by about a third, and personnel costs by half, company rep Koji Morisada tells AFP.
