Well, there is a decision to be made on those three, to be sure. However, based upon their ST stats and production it certainly should be a rather easy one.

Guessing McDonald will make the team and Torrealba probably gets added to the 40-man kind of by default because Iannetta and Conger are currently the only catchers there.

 

Tracy and Pena in particular haven't exactly made strong cases for themselves though, so *shrug*

McDonald will definitely be on the team now after the Romine trade and Torrealba would be a great guy to stash in AAA if he decides to take that assignment.

The other guys have been meh to me.

zack greinke made that "zero" comment really popular lol.

 

id honestly take torrealba over conger.  conger is like bobby wilson, absolutely no skills behind the plate in what is probably the most important position besides pitching.  i thought his offense would make up for it, but he's been hitting like a pitcher so far.

I had some hopes for Pena but his at bats have looked pretty bad.

not sure why any of these guys 1. were invited to camp and 2. chose to accept an invite to the Angels camp.

 

There must have been other teams with better situations (for these non roster guys) for them to make the team.

 

Carlos Pena started out pretty well in ST, then faded.....but even if he had just a monster ST - batted .450 with 10 HRs or something -- he still faced long odds to make this team because we have enough one dimensional type players on the team -- Pujols, Hamilton (because he's hurt), and then Raul Ibanez.........we really couldn't carry a fourth DH/ sometimes position player guy on the team.

 

Torrealba, his chances of sticking as the third catcher were less than nil?

 

Chad Tracy -- he couldn't even win the battle of the non-roster infield guys.......
