Thing is, you are turning yourself two dimensional by doing it.  Goalie knows that all he has to do is block at ice level.  Can't elevate the puck that way.

Yup.  Goalie just covered the corners, and had the stick flat on the ground.  

 

Has any penalty shot player carried the puck on the stick to make the shot?
