has anyone here ever gone to NYC to see the ball drop in person? what was it like? would you do it again?

I plan on trying to sleep at 10. But I'm sure all the fireworks being shot will prevent that.

Watched my wife and 7 yr old daughter try to eat their weight in shrimp and crabs. Watched midnight fireworks from our balcony. Asleep by 12:25

Early bed for me. I have to have my daughter at the airport at 5:00 am. Probably the last time I’ll see her for about 18 months since she goes to her duty station in Incirlik Turkey right after her tech school is over. It’s going to suck being that far away from her. She’s excited though.

I've never known anyone who had bad things to say about Incirlik although it's been a few years since I've known of anyone there

At 16:10 on January 1st (JST), a M7.6 earthquake occurred along the coast of the Sea of Japan. Tsunami warning issued (up to 16 feet expected) too.

One of the cool New Years Eve traditions in Big Bear is the Torches At Night at Snow Summit.  It’s awesome to see, but usually cold as hell.

Reminds me of the Fire Falls at Yosemite, which was a much warmer event.
