I am not suggesting anything about these specific allegations here.  I guess it will play out and we will see.

But mlb should probably take a hard look at their own policy as it relates to these things.  As it stands now, mlb can punish a player regardless of whether or not any crime is even identified.

I get that their objective is have a culture that just doesn’t tolerate anything even in the gray area.

However, they have unintentionally created an atmosphere where anyone can extort money from players with threats to report accusations that will never be proven true.

I don’t have the answer, but I hope mlb puts some thought into trying to find a system that promotes the right culture but doesn’t also unintentionally all but invite extortion against its own players.

Just saw this comment on social media:

"Look at Bauer. Not convicted , not even charged. As a matter of fact, accuser couldn't get restraining order ( I've been to those courts as an observer and they hand out restraining orders like candy) best not even get caught up in it. MLB policy on domestic violence is draconian."
