Walks are important. If Trumbo walked as much as Ianetta he'd be an all star.

Wowowow no we don't speak of Mathis in here nor do we ever ask for him back. If we could combine the defense of Mathis and the hitting of conger it would be great. Orrrrr we could experiment and put trout behind the dish.

Mathis career OBP of .257

Ianetta career OBP of .354

 

Over the course of a 550 PA season Ianetta will reach base 54 more times than Mathis. The stolen bases allowed isn't close to that and even if it were getting from home to first is far more valuable than getting from first to second.
