I think you also have to consider the fact that Soriano hasn;t started in such a long period of time due to the injuries and it was a last minute change to have him start. 

For  Skenes, I remember the broadcast mentioning that he has been on a pitch count in the majors (75 pitches) and he was in his 80s in his forst start. 

Honesty I would Soriano around the 75 to 85 pitch range for now.
