Chuck - you need to look at Ohtani’s medicals before you make the deal.

Also, as an owner, you should also leave this decision to your front office staff.

This is a great point.  You are no better than Arte if you accept this deal without letting your baseball people do baseball decisions.  You should probably call Victor or that little birdie.

Does your league let you use Shohei as a pitcher and a hitter?  Or do you have to choose one or the other?

Yeah we can use him for both but not at the same time.

So either he’s slotted in as a SP or U.

I’ve missed out on many of his HRs, RBI and other stats on days that he pitched and slayed at the plate.

Next season you only get DH Ohtani and the first go around after surgery Ohtani only produced 18 home runs while batting an .848 ops and 2.4 Owar. Last season was the first time he surpassed 4.8 Owar.

You should consider his production will hampered by both the arm strength and Dodger's park factor. You are not holding on to a Unicorn, more like a good plow horse for 2024, hoping to get a race horse in 2025.

I think Ohtani will rake just fine in 2025 after his arm has fully recovered but so far in his career, even with the short right field wall at Angels stadium, he topped out at 6 war on offense. It will be interesting to see if he can match or top those numbers at the Latrine.

Yeah, that's why I think JD Martinez who hit 33 HR's and has a ton of opposite field pop could hit nearly 40 HR's or more at the Big A. I think he's the right guy for DH.

Enough of this we need the DH for Trout and Rendon. Just slot in Rengifo for 3B and Moniak in CF and give those guys a day off unless they're needed to go in late as a pinch hitter.

I actually wouldn't. It's been a couple years since I was in your league, but I remember roster spots were at a premium. You're taking on an additional player, Gausman is good but pitching in Toronto can be challenging. Pepiot is also moving to the AL East, lots of unfriendly parks and opponents for him.

Glasnow moving to LA and the NL West helps his stock, and while moving to Chavez shouldn't hurt Ohtani too much, it's still not as friendly as Angel Stadium. Whereas Yordan is younger, and still playing in Houston. If he's healthy, I see no reason why he shouldn't equal Ohtani's output.

The only thing that makes me want to pull the trigger somewhat is Jackson Holliday. But keep in mind, he's much more of a line drive hitter than power hitter. He might be one of those guys that's way better in real life than in fantasy.

If he replaced Pepiot with someone more substantial, I'd consider it.

Do it.  Try to get him to add another arm, but I like Pepiot.

I already pulled the trigger on the deal and then was able to flip Gabriel Moreno (since I have Logan O'Hoppe) for Evan Carter from the Rangers. Really digging my team now.

The owner didn't know that you couldn't get Ohtani's offensive stats when he was pitching, so that's going to be a pain point down the road for him.
