THE GAME: The Angels lost 5-4 to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday at Sloan Park in Mesa, Ariz., dropping the final game of the Arizona portion of spring training.

PITCHING REPORT: Left-hander Patrick Sandoval gave up two runs in 4 2/3 innings in his final tuneup before starting the second game of the regular season Friday against the Houston Astros at Angel Stadium. Sandoval gave up a two-run homer to Seiya Suzuki. He struck out five and walked two … Right-hander Archie Bradley pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Bradley has not allowed a run in 4 2/3 innings this spring … Right-hander Austin Warren pitched a scoreless inning, working around two walks … Zac Kristofak, who is up from minor-league camp, entered in the ninth with a 4-2 lead and gave up a single, a double and a three-run homer to Grayson Byrd.

HITTING REPORT: Tyler Wade had a pair of singles. Wade is 11 for 26 this spring … The Angels reached on Cubs errors three times, including center fielder Jason Heyward dropping a routine fly ball hit by Jose Rojas … Preston Palmeiro, up from minor-league camp, drove in two runs in the eighth to snap a tie.

DEFENSE REPORT: Third baseman Kyle Kasser, who is up from minor-league camp, made a nice snag of a short hop… Bradley was too late covering first to get an out on a grounder to first baseman Braxton Martinez.
