I had never heard the term "yips", but baseball history is rife with guys who suffered from it. Steve Blass, who is mentioned in the article, is the first player I was aware of who suddenly couldn't do the basics of something that he was once very proficient at. Rick Ankiel is another recent example, although he somewhat reinvented himself by switching from pitching to playing the outfield (not an option for everyone).
