What's up with Fangraphs WAR this year?

What's up with FanGraphs WAR this year? Trout is having one of his worst months of his career and he's at a 1.2 fWAR. He'll probably end up at 1.5 by the end of the month, and this will probably be one of his worth months of the year. Say he plays this way all season...

1.5 WAR per month x 6 = 9 WAR by the end of the year. This is if Trout plays how he's playing now, which won't happen because he'll be playing better. Is this real life?

I'm of the opinion that WAR = nonsense (for the most part)

 

Trout is the third worst on the team in terms of WPA ahead of Chris Iannetta and way way ahead of Josh Hamilton.

I hate arguing with fans who cite sabremetrics. It just seems like it's a bunch of hogwash divided by more hogwash in attempt to see what random numbers and comparisons opposing fans can pull out of their asses to make their team look better.

Trout is the third worst on the team in terms of WPA ahead of Chris Iannetta and way way ahead of Josh Hamilton.

 

It's early in the season, and WPA is context dependent, where WAR is neutral.

Trout is 'only' 18th best in MLB, so he is not playing at the same level he was, at least compared to others. 

His batting line is still solid, with a 126wRC+ (149 career).

 

Bottom line, WAR LOVES his defense and his baserunning with about half his value coming from those two combined. I can't complain about his defense or baserunning this year aside from him only stealing 3 bases and not robbing any homeruns yet.
