Actually, if there's any injury fudging here, it's more in the interest of the Angels than Joyce to do it.

The Angels are going to pay Joyce his money no matter what.

If he's ready to be active now, they are forced to basically release him or trade him for nothing, watching him play for someone else while they pay him.

If he's not ready till 9/1, they can keep him and use him to pinch hit in September.

I realize not a big deal because it doesn't look like he'd be very effective as a pinch hitter but at least he'd be theoretically contributing to the team that is paying him.

Robertson and Navarro should be the LF platoon at this point.  DeJesus and Victorino are brutal.  Murphy may turn out OK.
