The 15th overall pick out of Hartford, Newcomb had his longest and by far best outing as a pro Wednesday night, striking out 10 over four scoreless innings against Wisconsin in a 1-0 win. Newcomb told milb.com that the organization hasn't put a specific pitch limit on his outings, but the Angels have told him they would limit him to "two or three innings." Through six appearances at Rookie-level AZL and Burlington, Newcomb has allowed 10 runs in 14 2/3 innings with 18 whiffs.

His command is shaky but I still think he's quite polished. Will be interesting to see what he does next year. I could see them starting Newcomb in Inland Empire next year with a swift promotion to AA is he impresses there. This is the guy in the system. If everything goes according to plan he's an ace/co-ace.
