I know it's a work in progress with Josh and Kole out, but I hope we see more of Cowgill and I think it's time to give Long a shot.  Boesch is clearly not a capable player even coming off the bench. 

 

The real oddity is what JB Shuck has been doing.  He's hit a couple of hrs and has flied out and popped up a ton.  He's doesn't look good at the plate at all with just one BB.  Still think Long would be a better option over he and Boesch.  Hopefully they will notice soon.  I'd even be willing to have look at green out there.

Would we expect any of these guys to look good swinging against Scherzer? I don't think it's fair to say because he hasn't looked good against Scherzer he obviously isn't any good.

I actually didn't say or even imply that I am basing this thread off one game at the plate.  Shuck has looked pretty bad so far and Boesch is a terrible defender and not a very good stick.

I honestly think the only reasoning they used in starting Boesch today is that he's a lefty with a righty on the mound, and he used to play for Detroit

I hope that's true and we don't see him consistently against RHers.

Shuck = pressing.  He's trying to prove he shouldn't have been sent down.  Relax JB!

 

Boesch = he'll be gone by late summer unless more outfield injuries occur.

 

Cowgill = Good bench guy, not ready for full time play.  I like his defensive presence and versatility.

 

Long = Needs some significant level of AB's in AAA, he'll be here soon enough.  Quicker if Trout, JB or Cowgill sustain an injury.

Why is Cowgill not getting more at bats? I know he has a few strike outs but it cant be easy getting a rhythm coming in and out if games all the time and he has been hitting better than Shuck.

I really don't see anything to like about Boesch's game. Hopefully by the end of the road trip he's back in SLC regardless of who replaces him.
