Washington Mudslide

Recommended Posts

This mudslide could eclipse the 117 that died during hurricane Sandy and the East coast had a week to prepare.

That's because the East Coast are filled with idiots and West Coast natural disasters are no joke.

...that was a joke east coasters so relax.

Yeah, even on the news, it's not getting the pub it should.  Hopefully they find more alive.  They are saying that it's tough to figure out an exact count because most of them were on the highway that runs through that town.

Hopefully they find survivors trapped in their cars.

The slide struck on Saturday morning so most of the residents were probably at home. According to reports they have not found anyone alive since Saturday afternoon. In some areas it was a 15 foot wall of mud that ran through the community. Nothing is going to survive that, you cannot swim to the surface in mud.

This is truly tragic and yet I can't find a thread about it on the forum. The town of Oso in Northern Washington state is wiped out by a mudslide, 14 bodies are found but 108 - 170 people are missing. The town's population is only listed at 180.

Yeah, I thought Chuck would've been all over this as soon as it happened.

I don't know how they're going to be able to unblock that river.  That area is fk'd on so many levels right now.

Yes, very sad.  There's an uncanny resemblance between this and Mount St. Helens in 1980 except the devastation is more localized.

Earthquakes I understand.  Small mudslides I understand.  But volcanoes and mudslides that destroy homes and kill people are very difficult to wrap my head around.
