Conger had the inside edge as backup C but has essentially (and literally) thrown his name out of the hat with his poor throws this spring.

I agree, but at least Hester's throws don't advance the runner two bases, just one.

It's really not looking like that, at all.

 

No bat, defense first backup catchers(not that Wilson was that special behind the plate) are a dime a dozen. Luke Carlin is pretty much exactly that.

Spring training CERA is absolutely and utterly meaningless. If you catch after the 6th inning nearly everybody is in A ball. Not helpful

There has to be a better backup catcher outside this organization. It's pretty annoying to see us throwing out a .500 OPS catcher with bad defense once or twice a week.
