Tepera and Loup both looked bad. Yes, it's just one game and it's a long season. Moore and Quijada haven't looked good either. Here is the difference. Loup and Tepera looked bad in 2022 and they looked bad in the spring and now, so far, the regular season (against one of the worst hitting teams in the majors). Moore and Quijada, at least, looked good last year. I'm not advocating doing something yet. They can wait 30 days and see how they look while monitoring Joyce, Webb, and Warren.

This is Tepera and Loop's last year with the team. Their combined salary is less that what Upton and Pujols were making when they were cut loose. Combined, they can account for more lost games that Pujols or Upton could.

30 days is all they can afford to give if they hope to make the playoffs. Addition by Subtraction.

Finding reliable relief pitching is a bitch.  The Angels have had bad luck.

Also...

The Angels scored one run.

As as much as I and other harped on the bullpen last night this loss is squarely on the Angels offense who mustered just 1 RUN off the A's below average staff.

Real story was the bats went to sleep like they always do starting on opening day

Pound the ball all spring and then ......

I'm always leery when hitters hit well during spring training.  People forget that a good portion of the pitchers the hitters face are either; minor leaguers getting their work in and getting a look, bounce-back candidates who's trying to make the team, a veteran just getting his throws in to get ready for the season.  So most of the time the hitters aren't facing MLB quality regular season pitching.

It was one 30 day period that cost the Angels last year

They have had bad luck in 12 of last 14 seasons.

The WBC bartender/accountant pitchers from England etc.  that Trout et. al. were feasting on also didn't help them ramp up to Big league pitching.
