After watching Tustin destroy Royal last night in Anaheim, Damien HS goes on an 11-0 run at the end of the game to turn a close battle into a 14-pt win over Santa Margarita to win CIF.

the Tustin game was ugly thru 3 quarters. In fact, it was 14-6 at halftime. It was obvious that Tustin was the better team,however.

Love high school basketball.... I still follow all the teams from SoCal every week.  The entire state playoffs are televised or streamed here in Utah. 

 

Lone Peak, ranked #1 in the country by several publications, played today in the state semis and they jumped out to a 14-7 lead with 4 minutes left in the first quarter.  In Utah they STILL do not have a shot clock, so the opposing team decided to slow the game down by holding the ball at half court for the rest of the period.  The tried to put up a last second shot but it was blocked.  The opposing team got the ball to start the second half and they held it at half court for the entire quarter.  With ten seconds left they made a move and Lone Peak stole the ball and missed a last second three.  Score stayed 14-7.  They interviewed the LP coach and he said, "if they want us to win 14-7 we will win 14-7.  That is fine with us."

 

It was terrible watching those players stand there as the entire crowd booed them.  In the second half they actually played basketball and Lone Peak won 54-27.  It was a disgrace to basketball and our high school association.....get a stinking shot clock.
