OC Register: Angels fall to Padres in Cactus League finale

THE GAME: With most of the Angels’ everyday players already back in Southern California to prepare for the Freeway Series, the Angels lost 11-4 to the San Diego Padres on Saturday at the Peoria Sports Complex. The Angels finished the Arizona portion of spring training with a 14-14-4 record.

PITCHING REPORT: RHP Jeremy Beasley got the start and gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings, including homers to Ian Kinsler and Franchy Cordero. Beasley reached Double-A last season. … RHP Cody Allen gave up three runs on three hits in his only inning. Allen had allowed three runs in his first eight innings. …

HITTING REPORT: Justin Bour blasted a two-run homer off the batter’s eye in center field. It was Bour’s team-leading fourth homer of the spring. Bour walked in his other trip to the plate. … Kevan Smith, who is expected to be the backup catcher, had a single in two trips as the designated hitter. … Dustin Garneau hit a two-run homer, his second homer of the spring.

DEFENSE REPORT: 1B Bour had to come off the bag to take a wide throw, but the runner also missed the base as he went by. Bour quickly got his foot back on the bag before the runner could return to the base.

Gotta admit.  The padres have a nice offense. I was at the game and was entertained by their bats.  Hoping their pitching can hold up.
