Johnny G and David Freese

Wow were they way more important to this team than I thought. Completely different team with them.

Scioscia always talks about lengthening the lineup and they are prime examples. Freese more than Giavotella but Johnny G has had some critical hits to outweigh his sub par OPS. 

 

Tonight is a good example where Freese extends the offense hitting behind Cron, while Giavotella is converting the #9 slot into something productive instead of a black hole. 

 

Next season I don't see or really want Freese signed to an extension unless it is extremely club friendly and short term.

They've both proved to be better than the guys we had I there.

That's weird, I literally was thinking of starting the same exact thread. Its funny both have had their share of hits in high leverage situations. And when they're their inserted back in the lineup, the offense all of a sudden looks way more solid. And to do it in bigs games in September, definitely says something. Even the little things like walks and productive outs make a huge difference when it comes to rallies.

Agree that if its club friendly they should definitely re-sign Freese. I believe that when it comes to the postseason, experience matters tremendously.

I see this more as a negative to Jerry. The Angels lack of depth at 3b/2b could not handle losing MLB average players. It says more about the horrible replacements we threw out there than Freese and Jhonny G.
