I think if you played a drinking game, take a shot every time McTavish falls to the ice, you'd be shitfaced after every game.

Half the time they do close-ups on McT, he looks like he's on his way to being shitfaced. So, I guess it fits.

That penalty by Vatrano is why I wouldn't be sad if he's traded.  Him, Strome, Z, and McTavish take way too many lazy stupid penalties.

No. No... no, your not trading Vatrano. The guy adds something to the team that is more valuable than what we would get back.

If he doesn't re-up. We can trade him next year.

This seems odd.

NHL Rumors: Scouting CHI-COL, TOR-ARI, and SJ-ANA, Oilers, Golden Knights, Flyers, and the Coyotes

So we were scouting the Chicago Colorado game.  Which makes sense, since Colorado is a potential trading partner.  But Colorado wasn't scouting our game.  But Chicago was.

So, I'm wondering if there is some kind of swap in place with Chicago.  Probably depth pieces.  But possibly our LD logjam?

More on the Beeker road tour.

Pat Verbeek's Pre-Deadline Scouting Tour

Most of the names just don't seem to fit he Beeker mold.  Except one.  The last player listed is Braden Schneider.  RD, 6'3", 208 lbs.  22 YO, RFA.  15 pts 60 games, +/- -1, 12 PM.  First round selection, 19th overall.

SCOUTING REPORT

Has the size, skating ability, right-handed shot, poise and defensive chops to play big minutes at the National Hockey League level (for a very long time). Does not have high-end offensive acumen but that does not prevent him from logging a ton of ice time in all game situations. Also displays a physical side to his game that helps his team win hockey games. He may not be the prototypical "modern-day" defenseman, but NHL teams cannot win Stanley Cups without his type.

Long Range Potential: Big, solid shutdown defenseman.

This sounds like nothing we have in the pipeline, and could slot right into the 2/3 pairing.

Hopefully we do well tonight.  But after last night playing a messy game shorthanded on D for the entire game.  I think the gas tanks of the Dmen are going to be empty.  We did call up Zell though.

A lot of it could just be general scouting going forward. He has the off-season to get ready for.

Something about Zellweger. We just look better when he plays.

We need to prepare for a serious approach to winning next year. Vatrano needs to stay. Look at Detroit. This is the second year they've been in win mode. They have a serious chance of being in the playoffs. We could be there too in 25-26.

Hopefully no contract disputes.  And the key guys stay healthy.
