OC Register: Angels sign veteran outfielder Adam Eaton

Looking for outfield help until Mike Trout and Justin Upton return from injury, the Angels on Wednesday signed veteran Adam Eaton, who was released by the Chicago White Sox on Monday.

Eaton, 32, appeared in 58 games for the White Sox this season, batting .201 with five home runs, 28 RBIs and 33 runs scored in 189 at-bats. He had 15 extra-base hits and hit .341 with runners in scoring position (15 for 44) with five doubles, one triple, two home runs and 21 RBIs.

In 10 major league seasons, Eaton is a career. 278 hitter with 165 doubles, 46 triples, 65 home runs and 317 RBIs across 889 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks (2012-13), White Sox (2014-16, ’21) and Washington Nationals (2017-20). His career on-base percentage is .356 (.298 this season).

Eaton was a member of the Nationals’ 2019 World Series championship team alongside current Angels Anthony Rendon and Kurt Suzuki.

In a corresponding 40-man roster move, left-handed pitcher Dillon Peters was designated for assignment.
