OC Register: Angels acquire right-handed reliever Aaron Slegers from Rays

Recommended Posts

The Angels added depth to their bullpen by acquiring right-hander Aaron Slegers from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for a player to be named or cash.

Slegers, 28, posted a 3.46 ERA with the Rays last season, mostly as a multi-inning reliever. Slegers pitched 26 innings in 11 games. He allowed one run in five innings in the postseason, although he did not pitch in the World Series.

Slegers began his big league career with the Minnesota Twins in 2017. Over parts of the past four seasons, he’s pitched 58 innings in the majors with a 4.66 ERA.

Slegers can still be optioned in 2021.

In order to create a spot on the 40-man roster, the Angels designated left-hander Dillon Peters for assignment.
