THE GAME: The Angels beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in a Cactus League game on Monday at Tempe Diablo Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

PITCHING REPORT: RHP Jaime Barría gave up a solo homer to the first batter of the game, but then no other runs through two innings. The only other hit he allowed was an infield hit that was bobbled by shortstop Wilfredo Tovar. Barría said he was focusing especially on working on his curve. … RHP Felix Peña faced the minimum nine hitters in three innings, striking out three. Peña was scheduled for two innings, but he finished his second inning with 20 pitches, so the Angels sent him back for a third. He ended with 37 pitches. Barría is the favorite for the No. 5 starter job, but Peña could work his way into that role. If Peña doesn’t crack the rotation, he is likely to be a starter at Triple-A, although he could also be a multi-inning reliever in the majors. … RHP Jeremy Rhoades worked a scoreless inning for the second time in as many games.

HITTING REPORT: Jarrett Parker hit his first homer of the spring. Parker was known for his tape-measure homers with the San Francisco Giants. He also walked twice, giving him four walks in three games. Parker is a non-roster invitee who missed all of last season rehabbing a shoulder injury. … Jo Adell went hitless in three at-bats, with a strikeout. He is 0 for 5 through two Cactus League games. Adell, the Angels’ 19-year-old top prospect, is in his first big league camp. … Tovar hit a homer.

DEFENSE REPORT: Adell made a sliding catch in shallow center field… Catcher Julian Leon leaped to catch a foul pop at the screen and then threw out a runner trying to steal second. His throw bounced by second baseman Luis Rengifo grabbed it and applied a quick tag.

UP NEXT: Angels (LHP Andrew Heaney) vs. A’s (RHP Mike Fiers), Hohokam Stadium, Mesa, noon PT
