Should probably put this in the what have you watched recently thread, but figured I would make a separate thread, for anyone who might be interested who don't check that thread often (like me) Come and See is an old movie (80s). Came out of the Soviet Union, about WW2 in Belarus. Critically acclaimed and for good reason. Wasn't available out here for years (maybe old VHS?). I bought the bluray of it a few years ago when it finally released. It's available for streaming now (finally) on Amazon and Vudu. The title is from the bible. About the 7 seals. For its time it was very brutal. Movies since have become bloodied, so it's not anything that wil…

I just had some observations about todays late teens and early twenty-somethings. I don’t think it’s groundbreaking or comedy ready, just some observations about this group in my area. 1) Lots of young dudes with white fros. I’m not sure if this is because of my next observation or what, I just see non-black teenage boys with giant curly hair… a lot. 2) Most kids look half-Hispanic. It’s not like I see a lot of Latino kids during my day (ok yes I do) but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fully Caucasian teenager in like 7 years. 3) They all wear sweat pants, all the time. 4) They’re all like 5’8. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone under 25 t…

I am wondering if anyone here has or currently struggles with their mental health. I won't go too deep into detail, but I know for myself as a late 20 something I have struggled quite a bit with depression. A lot of it correlates to being lonely, etc. Everything just feels empty as of late. It all tends to go away when I go do something with friends, family or go on a date with this girl I'm into. Or even when I'm at work. But once I get home this depressed feeling just comes back on me like a brick wall. It's often a feeling of helplessness if there's any way I can describe it. I do know a lot of you are older and have quite a bit more experience in life -- so natu…

Say goodbye to AM radio: Why carmakers are removing it from new models https://thehill.com/homenews/nexstar_media_wire/4004678-say-goodbye-to-am-radio-why-carmakers-are-removing-it-from-new-models/ Your next car might be missing a button – the one to switch between AM and FM radio. Car manufacturers are increasingly opting to eliminate AM radio in their new vehicles. BMW, Mazda, Volvo, Volkswagen and Tesla, among others, have either already removed or plan to remove AM radio from at least some electric models. Ford is going even further, reports the Detroit Free Press, and ditching AM in all new cars – gas or electric…

This one is for all of you who have kids, specifically sons. (Or those of you youngsters on this site). In the past 2 years or so, a new scam has gone crazy. Essentially lonely and naive young men being randomly friended by a smoking hot chick way out of their league on social media. Smoking hot chick randomly finds them and thinks their cute, and wants to be friends. As the dirty talk flys, random hot chick sends nudes. Asks for nudes in return. "Noooo! I want one with your face" Horney young guy falls for it and does it. Immediately random hot chick is really a man (duh... in real life random hot chick's don't need to find strang…

Much like @Vegas Halo Fanand hopefully my brother, @ten ocho recon scout very soon, I officially hung up my jacket today on our retirement wall at our headquarters in Los Angeles after 33 1/2 years. It was more emotional than I thought it would be, but I truly appreciate the friends, co-workers and family that got to spend the day with me. I truly have appreciated serving the citizens of Los Angeles and I look forward to spending more time with my wife, kids and grandkids. It’s been an amazing journey.

Let's use this thread for sharing some good Spotify playlists, recommendations, etc. whether they're your own or someone else's. Here's a playlist I put together of mostly alt-80s music, but some 90's, new stuff and real old stuff.

Dow is off 273 points, and the S&P is below its 50-day moving average. Not good. Just the other day we were told the economy was growing at a "robust" pace. LOL.

63-year woman on her morning walk, killed by four pit bulls. Deputies are searching for the dogs tonight. Near Palmdale. I hate these stories. There seem to be more of them lately. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/10/us-usa-dog-attack-idUSBRE94901A20130510

Last night, my coworkers stopped a car with 2 gangsters in it. The driver got out of the vehicle with a gun, and was shot by the Po Po. He was hit, but just wounded. He ran off, hopping a fence. My coworkers broadcast that, put it out on the radio and set up a perimeter. (They stayed with the car because it had another guy in it, and you don't run past a car if that's the case, because you don't know if he's armed or not.) Anywho, about a minute later they heard a new volley of gunshots a block or two away. When the coppers got there they found bad guy, in worse shape than they remember. He was unconscious, so they couldn't ask him "huh? The hell happe…

I hesitated at first because of 2 reasons: 1) The conspiracy theory that the vaccine is 666, and 2) I was afraid the vaccine would kill me quick because I had a massive pulmonary embolism 5 years ago which did a lot of damage. I later realized that the conspiracy theory which was spread by a wacko You-Tube Evangelist by the name of "Richie from Boston" was entirely false, and that I had more of a chance of dying by not taking it and catching COVID-19. That would kill me for sure. Now I feel I have done my part in bringing an end to this pandemic madness.

Been watching a ton of videos on this dude the past two years. Dude has 33 confirmed kills, but way more. He also was the one (or his Army Ranger team rather) that saved the real guy that the Mark Wahlberg movie was based off. He resonates with me because he's also colorblind but got through unlike me at MEPS. If you want some real behind the scenes stuff, watch this dudes videos if you are interested. Feel free to post other military based stories, info, or knowledge.

I work at a career I enjoy in the healthcare industry. Some days, I'm slammed and don't have much downtime. Other days, I have time on my hands waiting for action. Most of the latter days, I read up on sports, AW, fantasy stuff. Was thinking recently that I might be able to do some secondary work in the background on those slow days but not sure what. Something I could do remotely, more of a piece-meal gig where I get paid for completed work. Anybody have thoughts/suggestions? I make pretty good money as is but could always make some additional fun money for trips, gambling, what not. Before some of you comedians chime in, gay phone sex is out. Unless it pays…

37 years ago today in 1986, the Space Shuttle “Challenger” broke apart 73 seconds into its flight. It exploded and the remaining parts fell down to the Atlantic Ocean from 43,000 feet. All seven members of the crew died. It was the first fatal space flight accident in U.S history. Where were you on that fateful day? I was a second year teacher. I had a planning period to start the day and was excited about the first teacher going up in space. Was even planning to try and follow a couple of the lessons she was going to teach while up there. l didn't have a tv in my room so I wasn't watching. Our school secretary came in and told me the news, and I turned on my radio. …
