Personally, I’m sad that she won’t literally die on the senate floor.  That would have been good content.  Anyway.  The CA Democratic Party will make sure Barbra Lee or Schiff get the seat.  Probably Lee.  Porter definitely will not.

If she doesn't finish her term Newsom would get to pick her replacement. That would give that person an advantage for running as an incumbent.
