GAME 117 - ANGELS AT BLUE JAYS

TORONTO – The Angels’ Jarrod Washburn and the Toronto Blue Jays’ Roy Halladay engaged in an old-fashioned pitchers’ duel, the only blemish by either pitcher coming off the bat of David Eckstein.

Eckstein’s solo home run leading off the fourth inning off Halladay was the only run of the game in a 1-0 Angels victory before 34,013 at SkyDome. It was Eckstein’s seventh homer of the year.

Washburn improved to 15-3 after giving up just three hits in eight innings. Troy Percival pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, including two strikeouts, for his 27th save.

The win kept the Angels a half-game ahead of Boston in the wild-card race, and moved them to within 2 ½ games of Seattle in the A.L. West.
