Marcum has pitched 7 shutout innings of relief. Kevin Slowey has done the same.

 

No matter how bad this season is for the Angels, at least we aren't the Marlins. They are on pace for about 44 wins.

 

Oh, and the Mets are 0 for 19 with RISP. This is truly a battle between two elite teams.

It should be illegal for a "closer" to get a save in a 20 inning game.

You know that you really suck when you can manage only one run in 19 innings. Nobody's pitching is that good.

 

Amazing that the Marlins had 69 at-bats in the game and not one of them went to Mr. Clutch, Jeff Mathis. "We have a chance to win today, Jeff. Get away from that bat rack."

The Marlins had three players who went 1-for-8 in the game. The Mets had two 1-for-9s and one 1-for-7. Positively Hamiltonesque.
