Recommended Posts

THE GAME: A mostly minor-league Angel lineup teed off against a pair of major league pitchers in an 11-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds (2-5-1) at Goodyear Ballpark. Luis Castillo and Cody Reed allowed all 11 runs. The Angels (6-3) led 11-0 after five innings.

PITCHING REPORT: Angels starter Felix Peña tossed 2 ⅔ scoreless innings against a lineup laden with major leaguers. He struck out four, walked three and allowed one hit, a triple. … Jaime Barría allowed a solo homer to Brian O’Grady in the sixth inning, then allowed another when Brennan Lund dropped a fly ball in right field. He walked one batter and struck out another in two innings. … Cody Allen, Taylor Cole and Luke Bard each threw a scoreless inning. … Luis Garcia struck out the only batter he faced, Eugenio Suarez.

HITTING REPORT: Peter Bourjos went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs. … Luis Rengifo (2 for 2) beat out an infield single in the third inning and scored on Bourjos’ single. … Rengifo also doubled, stole a base, and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. … In his second Cactus League at-bat, Justin Bour (1 for 3) annihilated a Luis Castillo pitch for a home run that landed outside Goodyear Ballpark entirely. The two-run blast gave the Angels a 3-0 lead in the third inning. … Tovar (2 for 3), a non-roster invitee, hit a two-run double against Rob Wooten into the left field corner in the fourth inning. … Jo Adell (2 for 3) hit a pair of doubles, off Anthony DeSclafani and Cody Reed. The latter drove in the Angels’ sixth run … Jared Walsh went 1 for 2 with an RBI double.

UP NEXT: Angels (RHP Daniel Hudson) vs. A’s (RHP Marco Estrada), 12 p.m., Tempe Diablo Stadium. TV: Fox Sports West. Radio: 830-AM
