It's still gonna be 26, but they increased the total number of pitchers by 1 to 14. Ohtani will not count, so basically the Angels can have a 9 man pen if they wish. Which leaves 11 position players not named Shohei.

With Fletcher likely to come back for the road trip, which three players get sent down? Velazquez is likely, even though he's playing a lot and his defense is spectacular, his offense is absolutely terrible.

Are Mayfield and Duffy Redundant? Duffy I suppose can play 1st, and has a little more than I would've liked in the first month. Captain Jack has been hitting the heck out of the ball in limited AB's. But Mayfield has options and Duffy doesn't. Do they drop one infielder for Fletcher and two RP? or two INF and one RP?

I know Mayers has struggled a bit, but he's a veteran so I doubt he is the one demoted. He also doesn't have options. Wantz I suspect will be headed down, and then it's anyone's call, could be Herget, Warren. 

We could see a trade of Barria or of Duffy.

Adell could be sent down, in order to play every day, but then our backup OF would be Wade, Duffy, And Fletcher.

I am going to guess that most teams are going through this same decision process.  Perhaps that will increase trade opportunities.
