THE GAME: The Angels beat the Colorado Rockies, 7-4, on Tuesday at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

PITCHING REPORT: Right-hander Cesar Valdez started and pitched two scoreless innings. Valdez, 28, has little chance of making the Opening Day roster, but he started this game because Noah Syndergaard was pitching in a minor league game. … Right-hander Raisel Iglesias pitched a scoreless inning, striking out one. … Left-hander Aaron Loup gave up two runs on three hits in one inning. … It was the first outing of the spring for Iglesias and Loup. … Right-hander Mike Mayers pitched a scoreless inning, working around a hit and a walk.

HITTING REPORT: Third baseman Anthony Rendon had an RBI single in his first game of the spring. He was 1 for 3. … Jared Walsh hit a two-run home run. … Jo Adell blasted his second homer of the spring, a drive to straightaway center field.

DEFENSE REPORT: Rendon snagged a line drive and threw to first to complete a double play. … Center fielder Mike Trout made an error when he mishandled a single, allowing the runner to take an extra base. … Left fielder Justin Upton also made an error when he failed to field a single cleanly. … Shortstop Luis Rengifo bobbled a potential double-play ball.
