1952 Complete game 7 TV broadcast

Recommended Posts

For those deprived of the games, here's a great way to get a fix!  Revisiting old baseball history. This (along with game 6) has to be the oldest complete game TV broadcasts.

It's game 7 of the 1952 World Series between the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York  Yankees in Ebbets Field.  The real Boys of Summer rosters. There also is a game 6 broadcast on YouTube,  but this is more dramatic,

What teams! 20 year old Mickey Mantle and HOF Duke Snider in center field. HOF cathers Roy Campanella and Yogi Berra. HOF shortstop Phil Rizzuto and Pee Wee Reese. The immortal Jackie Robinson and pugnacious Billy Martin at second.

It also gives you an insight about how primitive the camera set up was, and no replay technology. The very early days of TV. And a pair of HOF broadcasters splitting time in the booth.

At times when there is acrimony in the present day world (baseball and beyond) a little time travel can be elucidating and fun.
