Jerry Dipoto's statement regarding Blanton. "It’s a mistake on my part, there's no one else to blame, I made the call on signing Joe." I say good on him! It was a bad signing and he owned it. Now ... Let's turn the page!

Hey all, Just thought we might have some fun with some baseball trivia. Now I can't make any promises, but a cursory poll of my living room shows that an individual capable of answering all these questions correctly will be heralded among baseball keyboard jockeys everywhere! So let us begin. 1. What is unofficially the longest home run ever hit in an MLB game? Who hit it, where, and how far did it go? 2. What was a ground rule double ruled as before the 1931 season? 3. Who was the first African American player in the major leagues? 4. What year was the first year bats were regulated? 5. What is the record for the lowest attendance ever at an MLB g…

For those not living near LA, are you going to any Opening Days near you? Whether its MLB or MiLB, it doesn't matter. Just curious. Me? I have the distinct pleasure of watching the OKC RedHawks (Astros) vs. the New Orleans Zephyrs (Marlins) the day before my birthday. Should be a terrible game, but baseball is baseball!

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2014-positional-power-rankings-starting-pitchers-16-30/ Seems like a fair projection. They were projected to be the 18th best rotation entering the 2013 season. It's using projected WAR, which undervalues guys like Weaver and Santiago so you could bump up the Angels a few spots. Rangers are projected 3rd(lol). Mariners are projected 7th. A's are projected 13th.

When it comes to the AngelsWin.com Spring Training Fanfests, there are numerous highlights to the event. To limit it to just one does not do the weekend enough justice. Not only did we get to meet two starting Major League players (Kole Calhoun and Hector Santiago), three of the top prospects in the system (Taylor Lindsey, Mike Morin, and Mark Sappington), the Angels GM Jerry Dipoto, the Angels media (Mike DiGiovanna, Jeff Fletcher, Jose Mota and Terry Smith), and a great Angels fan and comedian Sarah Colonna. How can we top all of that? Easy. The AngelsWin.com Spring Training Fanfest weekend isn’t over until Sunday morning when Tim Mead, the Angels Vice President of …

Spend some time in the Angels' clubhouse, and you're likely to see a lot of those red "K cancer" T-shirts that are gaining popularity these days. The idea sprang from Cardinals reliever Jason Motte last year, and it was brought to the Angels courtesy of C.J. Wilson, View the full article

TEMPE, Ariz. – About 16 months after he signed Joe Blanton to a two-year $15 million deal, Jerry Dipoto cut his – and the Angels’ – losses. The Angels general manager released the embattled right-hander Wednesday morning, a quick and somewhat... View the full article

Joe Blanton, a right-hander who went 2-14 for the Angels last season, had a dismal spring training. GM Jerry Dipoto takes blame for signing him to a two-year deal in 2013. PHOENIX — Angels fans won't have Joe Blanton to kick around anymore. The Angels released the struggling and oft-criticized right-hander on Wednesday and ate the remaining $8.5 million on his contract, a move that was probably more difficult for General Manager Jerry Dipoto to digest than Blanton. The way he's hitting the ball with power the other way lately, is very encouraging. I could see a .900 OPS from him this year. Hell, he even legged out a triple http://m.mlb.com/video/v31646323/clelaa-pujols-hits-an-rbi-triple-to-score-trout/?game_pk=396318

Assuming they go with seven relievers, and assuming DDLR either starts the season with the big club or is activated toward the end of next week, who takes the remaining spots? I think these guys are locks: Frieri Smith Jepsen Salas DDLR Maronde should also get a spot because we really need a left reliever. That leaves one spot for Rasmus, Lyon, or Kohn. Rasmus has had the best spring, Lyon has a proven track record, and Kohn has the best stuff (and is out of options, I am told). So who takes the last two spots?

I've been noticing the angst here on the forums regarding the upcoming season. Given the last few years I'll admit it's warranted. During a break between projects, I threw this together so you all can proudly proclaim your anxiety. This desktop wallpaper is available is 16 native screen formats. If you were a GM and you could pick 5 players to start a MLB team, who would those 5 players be? Each player would be signed for seven years only. Ready. Set. Go. Here's mine: Mike Trout Clayton Kershaw Paul Goldschmidt Troy Tulowitzki Buster Posey

Left spring training to see neck/back specialist Dr. Drew Dossett. Didn't he have back problems at the tail end of last year? This Ranger injury-train keeps on going.
