No, this isn't the amount of Republicans vs. Democrats at the Dancing with the Stars finale at Adam's house. It is, however, the score of the 52nd annual congressional baseball game: It must have been softball.

I bet this happens all the time. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_NUKE_PAYMENTS_WILSON?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Energy Department's inspector general says former U.S. Rep. Heather Wilson collected $450,000 in questionable payments from the nation's federally funded nuclear labs after she left office. A report released Tuesday says Wilson, a New Mexico Republican, failed to document what she did to earn $20,000 a month from New Mexico's Los Alamos and Sandia national labs from 2009 to 2011. The inspector general says private contractors that run the labs have reimbursed the government for the payments. An inves…

http://rt.com/usa/supreme-rumsfeld-vance-court-493/ The high court rejected an appeal early Monday filed by Donald Vance and Nathan Ertel, two US citizens who say Mr. Rumsfeld should be held responsible for the treatment they endured while detained for several weeks in 2006. Both men were placed in a military prison in Baghdad for around three months that summer. They had filed a complaint with the Federal Bureau of Investigation about the Iraqi-owned security contractor they worked for, then were scooped up by US forces and put behind bars days later. In a 2011 interview with Democracy Now!, Vance explained that only a few months into working for the contractor, …

Arch Stanton had a good premise on another thread. I thought I would steal his great idea and make a thread. If you could pass one law you thought might help the current debacle that is our government, what would it be?

I'm sure this thread is probably a craig, so forgive me if this is already in full blown discussion. Man ... the POTUS is having a rough week. Benghazi won't go away .... the IRS is caught targeting groups on the right ... and now it comes out that the DOJ seized phone records of Associated Press reporters and editors. Freedom!!!

Oh for Pete's sake, the IRS, Benghazi and AP scandals are one thing. But now, Holder's signature shows up on the search warrant for the Fox reporter and the greatest indiginity of all, the Peace Prize folks have asked for the Peace Prize to be returned. There goes the splendid WH BBQ for the weekend. And now Chris Matthews on KFI is talking about how this administration is falling apart.

http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/why-american-ceos-get-paid-way-more-ceos-anywhere-else-hint-its-not-performance Remind me again why CEOs aren't overpaid, and why the business structure in this country at the top doesn't still have SEVERE issues that leads to this ridiculous pay for CEOs and board members. Compared to those CEOs who failed and still got nine figures for buyouts, Wells' contract was a bargain.

It was good to see him call out a congressional subcommittee for their witch hunt against Apple. Our tax code is a joke and it's a major reason this country continues to bleed jobs and cash to foreign countries.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/inside-politics/2013/may/10/ron-paul-states-rejecting-failed-war-on-drugs/ I have gained respect, over the years, for certain conservative philosophies. What I cannot grasp, for the life of me, however, is how some conservatives can carry on and on and on about less government intervention and less invasion of privacy, and then turn around and be vehemently against legalizing drugs. From an ethical perspective, it is a harmless crime. The argument has always been, “well, after the drug user becomes addicted, he will then start to steal and use other illegal means to get his fix.â€ Two points: (1) many drug addicts already use…

The one thing conservatives and liberals on this message board and in general throughout the country seem to agree on is the fact that the United States government is corrupt as hell and heading in the wrong direction. Taken from a previous thread: Geoff Stoddart: “It’s cute how many people thought that Obama would be different then Bush.â€ RallyMo: “For the most part red=poop…red=blue.â€ Arch Stanton: “Can’t we just toss them all out and start over?â€ Futch Winkleman: “At least Dubya tried to conceal his bullshit in the form of the Patriot Act…Obama doesn’t even try to hide it.â€ These four comments were made by d…

Really interesting to watch, if you're able. Members of the committee are only given five minutes to question, so it moves swiftly and there's not much filler/speeches which is usually the case. And because of the short time allotment, the committee members have to show their partisanship carefully. While watching, I remembered Whitewater and Filegate, both of which involved Hillary Clinton, in that it's sort of everybody else's fault. This has the same feel, although with much more tragic circumstances.

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2013/05/obama-tells-harvey-weinstein-justin-timberlake-blame-rush-limbaugh/65187/ Obama Tells Harvey Weinstein, Justin Timberlake to Blame Rush Limbaugh Obama admitted that his theory — that after the 2012 election, the Republican "fever" would break, and they'd decide to co-sign some of his agenda — was wrong. "My thinking was when we beat them in 2012 that might break the fever, and it’s not quite broken yet," Obama said, according to the White House pool report. This is because of a certain corpulent radio host. "I genuinely believe there are Republicans out there who would like to work with us but they’re f…
